Divide 360° by 8 and we get 8 equal sections of 45° each. We'll follow this approach to gain the most accuracy.
a) Take a copy of your floor plan and find the center of your home or building. The easiest way is to draw two diagonal lines from corner to corner.
Tip: Use a pencil -- then erase part of the lines except for an 'x' in the center.

b) With the center easily seen, place the bagua underneath the floor plan so the centers match up.
Tip: Place the papers against a window so you can see the map lines easier.
c) With a ruler and pencil, copy the sector lines onto your floor plan. Your floor plan should be split into 8 equal sectors.
d) Since you already know the facing direction by using your compass, write the actual direction in that sector.
For example, if the front of your home faces east, jot down east or E in that sector of your floor plan.
Tip: Facing is usually the side with the main door facing a street.
e) Rotate the feng shui bagua to match the center and facing direction of your floor plan. Record the rest of the directions in the corresponding sectors.
Tip: It pays to be accurate so if unsure, invest in a good compass to help determine directions effectively.
